Estonian University of Life Sciences
The Estonian University of Life Sciences in Tartu is the centre of research and development in such fields as agriculture, forestry, animal science, veterinary science, rural life and economy, food science and environmentally friendly technologies.
This university used to be focused on agricultural studies, but has now made a sincere efforts to transform itself from a traditional purely agricultural university into an open-minded European University of Life Sciences.

Studying at the Estonian University of Life Sciences
The university has no faculties. The structure of the university contains of 5 instututes. The studies are organized over all these five by not strictly adhereing to the institute limits.
The study process is arranged according to the regulation of the organization of studies approved by the Council of the EMÜ. The regulation covers the main principles of organization of studies, classification of students and student places, principles of quality assurance, rights and responsibilities of students in the study process, the grading system and principles of assessment, opportunities of student academic mobility and conditions of completion of studies.

Study levels
- Bachelor’s studies with the volume of 120 national credits (180 ECTS) – official standard study period is 3 years.
- Master’s studies with the volume of 80 national credits (120 ECTS) – official standard study period is 2 years.
- Doctoral studies with the volume of 160 national credits (240 ECTS) – official standard study period is 4 years.
E-University
The Administration of the Estonian University of Life Sciences greatly supports the use of distance learning strategies to enchase the quality of everyday studies.
In the nearest future courses will also be available in English worked out in collaboration with other European Universities.
At the moment students can choose between 19 different e-courses.
