Pirita Convent

Pirita ConventPirita convent is a monastery in Tallinn in Pirita Birgitins Guild.

Pirita monastery was began to be built in year 1417, but the first four nun veil already arrived in the 1412th year.

The monastery church to the 1436th year. The monstery was burnt down in year 1577.
when the Russian troops looted the monastery in Tallinn robbedby the order of Ivan IV.

Monastery was restored in 2001. A new building was constructed near to the old one. The years 2001-2004 was led by the mother monastery Patrizia and from the year 2004 mother Riccarda.

Currently there are eight nuns living in Pirita monastery, who were born in Mexico and India.

Pirita convent has given a name for one of Tallinn’s city districts, which is called Ruins of Pirita MonasteryPirita.
