Town Hall Square in Tallinn
Town Hall Square in front of the Town Hall of Tallinn has operated as a marketplace for centuries.
In the medieval times it has also been a place for festivals and also executions.
Today the square remains a cultural anchor in the city. In summer it is home to numerous cafes and outdoor concerts as well as a medieval handicraft market .
During the winter, every year on the time of Christmas, a Christmas market is held here.
Also, the Tallinn Christmas tree is placed here. This tradition goes back to year 1441.

Town Hall Square is the traditional center of the Old Town festival days, a modern version of a medieval carnival. Traditions of the Middle Ages are of life, including the parade, the Knights, a tournament, a parrotshooting and the election of Earl May.
